Kiss the Pig for Wishes

Principal Mary Contreras from the Vista Academy Kissed a Pig today in front of 1200 excited students! She did this as a reward for her school's fundraising success for Vista's BIG Give, collecting over $5,000.00!  Newton the Pig was a bit hesitant to participate, but after a few Cheez-its and snacks, he made it onto the stage and let Principal Contreras pucker up! Encouraged by chants of "Kiss the Pig...", Principal Contreras knelt down, gently brought up Newton's snout, and gave him a kiss.

Vista's BIG Give... a HUGE Success!

After months of planning and hard work, Vista's BIG Give presented the Make-A-Wish Foundation with a check for $43,000.00!  Molly, Justin, and their families were so excited- and the kids loved their special gifts! Thank you to each and every person that commited their time, love, and energy to make this event possible.  A BIG thank you to Kelly McKinney- a woman with a heart of gold and the ability to multi-task better than anyone I know! I am proud to be a teacher in Vista!

  Do you want to help make wishes come true? 
If you are interested in joining Vista's BIG Give Make-A-Wish team, please comment on this post and leave your email address so I can contact you. Do not leave a phone #- email is fine.  There are many ways to help...so please get involved today!  It will change your life... and the life of a wish child! Here are some ways you can start making wishes come true!

• Make a personal fundraising goal.. and exceed it!
• Ask your friends and family to help [Many hearts... one community!]
• If you have a business contact that might want to donate, ask right away!
• Ask your teacher/school/church to get involved. It's a great community service opportunity!
• Get as many people to help as possible- spread the good word!

Tentative BIG Give dates are:

January 2011:  Wish kick-off campaign with RBV/VHS high schoolers visiting VUSD schools.

February 4th: Wish Kick-off assemblies at VUSD schools

February 7-11, 2011: BIG Give Wish Week in the city of Vista!

February 23, 2011: Check presentation & celebration @ the Moonlight, 6:30 PM
